Our Formwork Experience

KMG have worked with all types of formwork systems. Some of the most common include;

Conventional

KMG has experience in all aspects of timber formwork. Conventional may be the oldest and most traditional type of formwork system. However, it is still widely used regularly. Conventional involves using timber, strongbacks and plywood sheets assembled to create moulds for concrete. Timber formwork is versatile, cost-effective, and suitable for various structures.

Permanent Formwork

We have used most stay in place formwork systems such as AFS, Ritek, DINCEL, and Risewall in various construction settings.

Permanent formwork are commonly used in applications such as: Basement walls, stair shafts, blade walls, balustrades and party walls.

Engineered Systems

Well versed in the installation of engineered formwork systems consisting of prefabricated panels, beams, and props made from steel, aluminium, or plastic.

Climbing Systems and slip form

Climbing formwork systems are used for constructing vertical structures such as walls and cores of high-rise buildings. These systems consist of formwork units incrementally lifted or climbed up the structure as construction progresses. Climbing formwork systems are designed for efficiency, allowing for continuous construction without extensive dismantling and reassembly.

Tunnel Formwork

Tunnel formwork systems are specialised systems used for constructing monolithic reinforced concrete walls and slabs in residential and commercial buildings. These systems consist of large, prefabricated steel or aluminium formwork units that are assembled to create the walls and slabs of a building in one continuous pour. Tunnel formwork systems offer speed, efficiency, and consistency in construction, making them suitable for projects with repetitive floor layouts.

Peri

PERI, characterised by its red brand colours, is a leading manufacturer of formwork and scaffolding systems, offering a wide range of innovative solutions for various construction applications. PERI formwork systems include modular panel formwork, slab formwork, column formwork, and climbing systems. PERI systems are known for their quality, reliability, and versatility, making them popular choices for construction projects worldwide.

Doka

Doka is another prominent manufacturer of formwork systems, providing comprehensive solutions for formwork and concrete construction. Modular

Modular formwork systems consist of standardised, interchangeable components that can be assembled in various configurations to create formwork for different concrete structures. These systems offer flexibility, adaptability, and cost-effectiveness, allowing for efficient construction of diverse projects. Modular formwork systems are often used for projects with irregular shapes, complex geometries, or limited access.

Plastic Formwork

Reusable plastic formwork is an eco-friendly alternative to traditional formwork systems made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or other durable plastics. These formwork systems are lightweight, easy to handle, and resistant to moisture and chemicals, offering long-term durability and cost savings. Reusable plastic formwork systems are suitable for a wide range of concrete construction applications, including walls, columns, and slabs.

These are just a few examples of the types of formwork systems available in the construction industry. Each system has its advantages and limitations, and the choice of formwork depends on factors such as project requirements, budget, timeline, and site conditions. Formwork contractors and construction professionals select the most suitable formwork system based on these factors to ensure efficient and successful project delivery.
